Koneksa CEO Educating Industry on Wearable Technology at European Bioinformatics Institute

On May 14 and 15, Koneksa CEO Chris Benko will present as part of “Wearable Technology – Challenges and Opportunities,” an industry program held by the European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI).

As the EMBL-EBI says, “Wearable technologies revolutionized people’s day-to-day activities in the last decade and a half, but their penetration in the healthcare and Biopharma R&D has been modest so far. The main obstacles include fragmented efforts across the industry and, therefore, a lack of shared knowledge and methodologies that would enable broad implementation of wearables to support drug development.”

Chris will be joined by experts from AZ, Biogen, GSK, Johns Hopkins University, Merck & Co., Novartis, Philips Respironics, Roche, Takeda and others, discussing:

  • The opportunities and challenges of using wearables for drug development and clinical research

  • How to design trials, and interpret and analyze the data from them

  • Keeping a patient-centric approach

  • Case studies and existing industry initiatives

  • Ways to partner

  • Global perspectives from manufacturers, scientists, lawyers, and data experts

EMBL-EBI provides resources and services to those in the life sciences, and offers a program for global companies that use its databases in their R&D. Most of the top 20 pharma companies take part in these offerings, which include expert-level workshops like this one.

The EMBL-EBI Industry Programme will be held at Takeda Pharmaceuticals in Cambridge, MA. Learn more and join the EMBL-EBI workshops at https://www.ebi.ac.uk/industry/workshops
